Artificial Intelligence Institute for Latin America and the Caribbean

Latin America and the Caribbean build their AI together, on their own terms.

AINI brings together governments, companies, academia, civil society and the international community around a shared constitution.

The region

A place of its own among those building AI.

China and the United States are building the frontier of the artificial intelligence industry today. Latin America and the Caribbean can decide the rules by which they adopt, adapt and build this technology, and offer a table where those rules work best for everyone.

Build, not just consume

We are looking for partners who build.

An AINI partner researches, trains, adapts or deploys artificial intelligence in the region, and leaves homegrown capabilities behind: trained talent, shared knowledge, and open tools whenever possible.

“We build up the region's own capacity to research, train, adapt and deploy artificial intelligence models, so that Latin America and the Caribbean take part as builders of this technology and not merely as its consumers.”

“Membership in and collaboration with AINI are open to every government, company, university and civil society organization in Latin America and the Caribbean that subscribes to the principles of this Constitution, as well as to international partners that share this same purpose.”
